James H. Shorter letter, 1826.

This collection consists of a letter from James H. Shorter to his father, James Shorter. Written in 1826 from New Haven, Connecticut, Shorter describes his journey from his father's home in Kentucky to Savannah, where he caught a ship to New York on his way to Yale College. The letter, which also includes a description of the first few weeks of Shorter's college career, contains his opinions on Augusta and Savannah, Georgia.
